Two Pathways for Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) Scholarships available now:

Pathway One:
The Virginia Certification Board (VCB) is pleased to announce that DBHDS is once again providing scholarships for those who are interested in applying for the Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) credential. Scholarships are also available to any peer who may need to retake the examination. Individuals needing to retake the examination may take a peer practice exam free of charge.

Effective immediately through October 25, 2020, new applicants for the CPRS credential will only pay $25, and retests will be free of charge. The CPRS application (attached) has been updated to reflect these changes.
The availability of the DBHDS scholarship funding is on a first come, first serve basis.

VCB is pleased to continue our work with DBHDS in this capacity and to continue to serve the Peer Recovery Specialist workforce. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact VCB at info@vacertboard.org.

Pathway Two:
The Office of Recovery Services has also partner with VOCAL Virginia to offer scholarships through the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) for National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS) Credential Fees.

The availability of scholarship funding is also on a first come, first serve basis.

Please contact VOCAL if interested in pursuing certification through NAADAC at network@vocalvirginia.org
