Caliper a CorTech Company is seeking an individual to serve in the communities of Culpepper, Warrenton, Orange, Madison, and Rappahannock. The Opioid Response Peer Recovery Specialist will provide support to local opioid response activities through direct outreach activities to individuals with substance use disorder.
Duties: -This position assists local opioid response activities through the application of their lived experiences and training as a Peer Recovery Specialist._Activities may include direct outreach (through ride-alongs with law enforcement or emergency medical services or in follow-up after overdoses where law enforcement and/or EMS were responders)-Duties may include assisting in outreach program development, coordination, and tracking with response agencies; position may also be responsible for maintaining an updated list of resources and create connections with resources to facilitate linkage when needs are identified.-Duties may include assisting in outreach program development, coordination, and tracking with response agencies; position may also be responsible for maintaining an updated list of resources and create connections with resources to facilitate linkage when needs are identified.-This individual may also be expected to become a REVIVE! trainer (DBHDS training on recognition of opioid overdose and response with nasal naloxone) and to provide training and counseling on opioid overdose reversal as well as dispensing of naloxone to individual via a health district standing order. Performs other duties as assigned that relate to addressing the opioid addiction crisis.
Minimum Qualifications: Certified Peer Recovery Specialist. Experience working with diverse cultures. Ability to understand, empathize and remain non-judgmental. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, staff, and community groups, both orally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of opioid use disorder and available community resources is preferred. Prefer high school degree or equivalent training & experience. Knowledge or experience with public outreach and education. Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with internal and external stakeholders
Special Requirements: A criminal history/background check will be required.
Ability to travel throughout the Local Health District or area is required, with mileage reimbursement provided. A valid driver’s license is required.
