    Position Summary
    BeBold Recovery is seeking a passionate and dependable Peer Support Specialist to provide emotional support and practical recovery guidance to individuals struggling with substance use. This role is essential to the success of our treatment programs and serves as a vital connection between clients and the clinical team. The Peer Support Specialist must use lived experience in recovery to build trust, offer support, and model success.

    Primary Responsibilities
    1. Peer Coaching & Emotional Support
    Collaborate with the treatment team to provide recovery-oriented support tailored to each client’s Individualized Service Plan (ISP).

    Engage in direct, meaningful interactions with clients to offer emotional support and help them navigate early recovery challenges.

    Provide personal insight and guidance based on lived experience with substance use recovery.

    Encourage accountability, hope, and motivation through regular check-ins and coaching sessions.

    2. Case Management Support
    Monitor and verify client attendance at required programming.

    Actively encourage and support client participation in treatment and recovery-related services.

    Identify and help resolve program or personal barriers that may affect recovery.

    Advocate for necessary services, resources, and support systems to meet client needs.

    Assist with discharge planning by preparing clients for a successful transition, ensuring compliance with discharge plans, and coordinating any post-discharge requirements.

    Support and educate family members by providing resources and orientation to the recovery process when applicable.

    3. Clinical Team Participation
    Attend and contribute to regular multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.

    Collaborate with counselors, case managers, medical staff, and leadership to review clinical cases, address treatment progress, and offer peer insight.

    Promote a recovery-centered approach within the team by sharing lived experience perspectives.

    4. Documentation & Compliance
    Maintain accurate, detailed records of all client interactions, activities, and progress notes.

    Ensure all documentation is timely and meets the standards required by CARF accreditation and the Virginia Administrative Code.

    Protect the confidentiality of client information in accordance with HIPAA and internal policies.

    5. Quality Improvement
    Participate in regular staff meetings with leadership and other departments to review programs and discuss opportunities for improvement.

    Contribute feedback and recommendations for program growth and enhancement based on client feedback and peer interactions.

    Attend ongoing professional development trainings and in-house learning opportunities.

    6. General Office & Facility Support
    Assist in light administrative and facility-related tasks as assigned to support overall operations and cleanliness.

    Serve as a supportive presence in the facility to help maintain a safe, organized, and recovery-focused environment.

    Working Conditions
    The position is based at our Norfolk location: 957 W 21st St, Norfolk, VA 23517.

    Work is primarily on-site in an office and group setting, with frequent interaction with clients and their families.

    Evening and weekend availability may be required depending on client and program needs.

    This is a rotating shift position, with schedules provided two weeks in advance.

    Requirements & Qualifications
    Personal experience with recovery from substance use (required).

    Ability to establish trust and boundaries with clients while maintaining professionalism.

    Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    Comfortable working within a structured treatment team and following clinical guidelines.

    Organized and dependable with the ability to manage documentation requirements.

    Prior experience in behavioral health or peer support preferred but not required.

    Other Employment Terms
    This is an at-will employment position. Either the employee or BeBold Recovery may terminate the relationship at any time with or without cause.

    Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, drug screening, and any other pre-employment requirements.
