District 19 Community Services Board Petersburg Clinic is offering a great opportunity for a full-time SUD Peer Recovery Specialist for the Colonial Heights and Dinwiddie Clinics. Services performed by the SUD Peer Recovery Staff will be done under the supervision of the Clinic Manager with ancillary supervision by the SUD Program Manager. The Peer Recovery Staff is an active member of the SUD team that provides holistic treatment to consumers. This position serves as a primary provider of peer recovery services to consumers with addiction. Position works closely with other staff and community representatives in using a team approach to enhance stability, enhance the quality of life through the recovery process, access to available resources, appropriate use of medical services and patient care. Responsibilities include but not limited to screenings, co-facilitating groups from a lived perspective, supportive counseling, outreach and home visits. Also provides peer support services to consumers with substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders in a manner that is healthy for the consumer to regain or maintain independence within the community, and mastery over their recovery process. Provide pretreatment, motivational and supportive counseling, life skills training, telephonic aftercare, as well as coordinate and link consumers to community resources disseminating recovery resources such as booklets, tapes, pamphlets and other written materials within the agency and throughout the community and other general outreach duties.
The work schedule is 8:30am – 4:30pm 3 days weekly with 2 days of working into the evenings on an adjusted schedule for group facilitation.
Successful applicant must have: a valid VA Driver’s License with acceptable driving record; a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, at least 3 years of continuous sobriety, be registered as a Peer Recovery Specialist and hold at a minimum a CSAC-A. The successful candidate must also be actively engaged or connected in the recovery community, experience in writing recovery plans, excellent written and verbal skills. Incumbent must also adhere to confidentiality policies, and maintain professional boundaries and be able to work with various organizations and agencies. Knowledge of mental health /co-occurring behaviors and experience in diagnosing substance use disorders and familiarity with the tri-city recovery community is preferred.
This position requires registration as a Peer Recovery Specialist (RPRS) by the Virginia Board of Counseling.

Position is a Grade C4. Starting salary is $39,239.00 annually. Salary is negotiable.
