The Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) Workforce Program at GMU
George Mason University’s Empowered Communities initiative is excited to announce that applications are now open for the Level 2 Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) Fellowship!
This 12-month fellowship is designed specifically for Certified Peer Recovery Specialists (CPRSs) across the Commonwealth of Virginia who are ready to strengthen their skills and expand their impact in the recovery field.
Program Highlights Include:
- $7,500 stipend
- 12-month program (20 hours per week commitment)
- 24 hours of advanced PRS curriculum delivered virtually, with a focus on mentorship and specialized skills 1,040 experiential hours completed at an approved preceptor site (placements available statewide)
- A guided capstone project designing a community-based recovery intervention
Importantly, fellows may complete this program in addition to their current full- or part-time CPRS role, allowing you to fulfill the required 1,040 experiential hours while continuing your employment.
Applications are being accepted now. Please note that interviews will not take place until August 2026, and the program will begin on November 30, 2026. We encourage interested CPRSs to apply early.
