Richmond Behavioral Health is now looking for qualified Peer Recovery Specialist & Family Support Partner Interns to gain their experience with our Regional Peer Academy!

The selected individuals will perform intermediate skilled human support work involving the assessment of client needs and providing access to needed and appropriate services including treatment, rehabilitation and service linkage, case monitoring and client advocacy functions, and related work as apparent or assigned. Utilizes lived experience with a child or young family member who has had mental health challenges.  Work is performed under the supervision of the assigned Program Supervisor.

Provides non-clinical support to individuals and family members engaging in services utilizing the education received in the DBHDS approved 72-hour Peer Recovery Specialist Training.  Receives advanced recovery-oriented trainings along with a high level of supervision and support.  Interns are placed at a CSB/BHA in Region 4 where they will share relevant lived experience, use a strength-based person-centered approach to support individuals and family members identifying barriers to reaching goals and building recovery capital.  This work will assist un-certified Peer Recovery Specialists in obtaining their 500 hours needed to sit for the state exam. Internship is a total of 560 hours.
