District 19 Community Services Board is seeking a full time Peer Recovery Specialist for the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team within the Adult Services Department based out of Petersburg, Virginia. Essential duties of this position include:
-Function as a role model to peers
-Exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills
-Serve as a consumer advocate, providing consumer information and peer support for clients in outpatient and inpatient settings.
-Assist peers in regaining independence within the community and mastery over their own recovery process.
Please note: Position will require travel to area clinics/programs in the D19 catchment area to provide recovery support when needed.
Requirements: (Experience, Essential Education, and Skills Needed):
Relevant lived experience as a consumer of mental health and/or substance abuse services.
At least 24 consecutive months of sobriety or drug free (if substance abuse diagnosis exists). At least 24 consecutive months of success within personal recovery.
This position requires registration as a Peer Recovery Specialist (RPRS) by the Virginia Board of Counseling.
High school diploma or equivalent. No less than 500 paid and or volunteer hours within the preceding year providing recovery related activities to consumers with mental illness.
Preferred experience working in a behavioral health setting; general clerical experience; experience working with computer applications (Word, Excel and Outlook) and data entry experience. Knowledge in preparing financials and/or procurement documents.

Salary:
This is a Grade S-C4, starting salary is $39,239. Salary is negotiable.
