Are you a peer recovery specialist (PRS) who wants to make a difference in the lives of women in the early stages of recovery? If so, the recovery program manager position at Georgia’s Friends might be for you.
In this role, you will serve as a critical member of a small, close-knit team that provides a variety of support services to the residents of Georgia’s House, a sober-living home for women in Charlottesville. Your primary responsibilities will be to manage all aspects of residence life, be an ambassador of the organization to the community, and inspire and motivate women in recovery.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Reporting to the program director and working closely with our executive director and administrative assistant, the recovery program manager is responsible for:
1. Case Management – You will support residents in their recovery journeys and foster a positive group-living environment. You will interview applicants, manage resident intake, develop/evaluate recovery and transition plans, hold residents accountable to program rules, model problem-solving behavior, ensure that residents have access to support services, and administer drug tests.
2. Program Development – You will help us continually enhance our recovery program to ensure that we are offering the highest level of care based on industry best practices as published by VARR/NARR.
3. Community Outreach – You will identify, develop, and maintain relationships with community organizations that provide recovery, life skills, health and wellness, and transition resources for residents. You will also participate in or lead outreach activities that strengthen ties to the community.
4. Referral Outreach – You will develop and maintain relationships with referring partners and build a program to regularly educate them about our services and program availability.
5. Education – You will plan, coordinate, and implement resident activities, workshops, and meetings that provide recovery skills, life skills, and personal fulfillment for residents.
6. Alumni Outreach – You will develop a program to keep alumni engaged in the recovery community and Georgia’s House activities with the goal of helping them further their own recovery journeys and providing peer learning opportunities for residents.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, & EXPERIENCE
– Must be a peer recovery specialist (PRS) or certified peer recovery specialist (CPRS) or be qualified to become one.
– Must have a high school diploma at a minimum. Post-secondary training/education, associate’s degree, or bachelor’s degree a plus.
– Must have 3 years of professional experience working in the addiction and recovery field. Training in trauma-informed care and crisis intervention a plus.
– Understanding of the criminal justice system as it applies to individuals with SUDs a plus.

– Has reliable transportation and is willing and able to transport residents as needed.
WORK SCHEDULE: The schedule will be determined based the needs of the program and the ideal candidate, but will include working the following:
- 2 to 3 days per week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- 2 to 3 evenings per week from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- The first or third Sunday of each month from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Georgia's House provides hope and healing to women who are in the early stages of recovery from substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health challenges. Women may live in our safe, supportive, and structured home for up to two years for a minimal community living payment. Georgia’s House is the signature initiative of Georgia’s Friends, a nonprofit that provides programs and services to help women in recovery. Georgia’s Friends is the only VARR-certified recovery residence in the Charlottesville area.
Georgia’s House is located in a beautifully restored 1890’s Victorian home in Charlottesville’s Ridge Street Historic District. You’ll be within walking distance of the downtown mall, West Main Street, UVA Grounds, and IX Park.
