    To promote public safety and reduce recidivism by supporting probationers through a continuum of services, in collaboration with state and local partners.

    Provide Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) services to individuals on state responsible supervision in accordance with State Opioid Response (SOR) and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) funding requirements.

    Minimum Qualifications

    High school diploma or equivalent. Must have completed the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services 72-hour Peer Recovery Specialist training. Experience with PRS documentation including utilization of recovery language.
    Demonstration of ongoing personal recovery growth; willingness to share personal experiences as it relates to recovery; excellent communication skills. Ability to reflect optimism of a probationer’s ability to enter recovery and sustain recovery. Experience engaging difficult to reach individuals and ability to identify a probationer’s stage of change. Working demonstration of ethical responsibility, boundaries, and confidentiality as a PRS. Experience supporting all pathways in recovery.

    Additional Considerations

    Prefer VIRGINIA Peer Recovery Specialist certification; Certified Peer Recovery Specialist trainer; Experience as a VADOC Peer Recovery Specialist vendor

    Work Schedule:

    Monday - Friday, majority daytime hours
